Erawan House
17 / 1-2 Chanasongkhram Phra-artid Rd | Phranakorn, Bangkok 10200, Thailand
If location is your primary consideration when booking a place in Bangkok then you’ll find a gem in Erawan House. It is walking distance from all the major sites: Wat Phra Kaew, Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Wat Pho), and The Grand Palace. The Temple of Dawn (Wat Arun) is just across the river.
Another good thing about Erawan House is that it’s only a few minutes from Khao San Road. You get to be in all the action but away from it and the noise when it’s time to hit the sack. There’s even a great massage place nearby and no, it isn’t one of those “happy ending” parlours albeit it isn’t fancy enough to be called a spa either. But their Thai massage was heavenly! My friend thinks so too. I love getting dry Thai massages in my home country so it was the best finally experiencing the real thing.
We got the Standard double/twin bed room for 2 persons for 900 Baht not inclusive of breakfast. We didn’t really mind since we planned on eating out. It really is just a basic, no frills accommodation. Facilities include aircon, TV, private bathroom with hot/cold water, and free wifi. If I remember correctly we were on the 5th floor but wifi is strong. Oh yes, now that. There’s no elevator so you’d have to carry your bags on the stair all the way up to your room. Should not be a problem for a healthy backpacker. There’s nothing special about the room, very spartan really. But I like the color scheme outside plus the high ceiling over the stair. Overall, Erawan House gives the best bang for your buck.
