[Japanese Study ] I've decided to study Japanese ,so help me God!

I took this in Kyoto in 2014. They are only tourists though, not the real thing.

I have been to Japan twice before but I only started learning Japanese a few months ago. I can speak a few Japanese phrases such as すみません、だいじょうぶですか etc but that's pretty much about it haha. I don't even know how I survived. Lots of strangers walking me to my destination in silence with a few awkward smiles and some bowing omg. I really wanted to talk to them though but I can't haha. I do have some friends in Japan but most days I travel around by myself.

So in February this year I started to learn the language. I learned hiragana pretty quickly and then katakana ( this one I still struggle with sometimes ). But, I know zero kanji. I figured I'd learn basic grammar first and then slowly incorporate kanji and increase my vocabulary.

I mean that's the plan.

Fast forward to 3 months later and I still can only read hiragana. The problem is it turned out that Japanese people write in a combination of all three writing system - hiragana, katakana, and kanji.Whenever I come across kanji ugh!! It literally stops me from reading! Kanji is definitely my biggest enemy right now.

So anyway, I downloaded some CDs and e-books recently and I was planning to start on it asap but I can't concentrate because I am trying to finish this blog as part of my portfolio ( for some freelancing gig ) . On top of it, I got a writing project for a client a few days ago so my Japanese study have to be pushed to the back burner. I'm feeling guiltier and guiltier as days go by and I think  I forgot half of my katakana already . 😢

Anyway, I'm starting this category so I can keep track of my progress. 頑張ります!
