My friend said the guidebook mentioned that Lao food taste bland compared to its neighboring countries. Excuse me random writer but we beg to differ! I’ve never eaten so much Lao food in my life and I enjoyed each and every morsel. In fact, I looked forward to each meal and every time we’d sat down to eat you’ll hear us let out a series of OMGs. Sigh, I miss my Lao fried noodles. LUNCH  Fried Sweet Thai Basil (15000LAK) I thought it’s the sweeter version of Thailand’s Chicken with Basil but thankfully I was wrong. It was still too spicy and sooo good. Pat Tha (15000LAK) This was described in the menu as fried noodle Thai style with seafood, pork, beef, and shrimp. [ Travel ] Kitano Tenmangu Shrine and a visit to a grocery store

Next up,we went to Kitano Tenmangu Shrine. I wanted to go there for 2 reasons: it's free and I liked the  vermilion colored bridge when I Googled images of the shrine. Also, it's located quite near Kinkaku-ji. This temple is popular in Spring because of the plum blossoms. We were actually confused because we didn't know we came through the exit instead of the entrance gate lol. We only realized it after we came to the plum grove and we see people having teas. They looked for our tickets but we didn't have it. At the exit, my friend paid for us not knowing that it was supposed to be for the tea and plum grove area and what not and not for the admission to the temple. We were actually just passing through but we paid for a tea we didn't have omg. It was all confusing at the time and I admittedly also forgot it was supposed to be free. [Travel] Arashiyama, Kyoto – Saga-Toriimoto Preserved Street

For my jaunt to Arashiyama, we took the bus to the farthest destination in my itinerary and then made our way back on foot. This was suggested by my guide and it actually made a lot of sense since doing the entire round on foot might be a bit tiring and we were able to avoid the huge crowd too. At least, to some extent. After Otagi Nenbutsuji Temple we walked south along the main street until we reached a huge torii called Ichi-no Torii. Beyond it is Saga-Toriimoto Preserved Street which is lined with Machiya – traditional townhouses with shingled or tiled roofs, and Minka – farmhouses with thatched roofs. A lot of these houses have the front section converted into souvenir shops and restaurant. We didn’t stop to eat as I know it could be pricey but still, it was nice walking down the street.
