[Travel] Off to Kyoto!

And I’m finally out of the airport and off to Kyoto! The train was nearly empty. There was a Thai girl that I sort of made friends with while waiting at the platform earlier since she thought I was Thai and I thought she was Pinoy hahaha. This happens all the time! Anyway I was being a chatterbox and I completely forgot about the language barrier. I thought she wasn’t being friendly because she wasn’t as responsive and animated as me but then it dawned on me that she can barely understand what I was blabbering about. My bad. I stationed myself on a window seat and was soon absorbed with the scenery outside. My excitement was mounting as I see some trees with yellow and nearly red leaves. I was really, really worried that I came too early and not see autumn foliage so I was checking autumn report in Japan-guide’s website daily leading up to my departure. I heaved a sigh of relief upon seeing that I came right on time. Since this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me, I busied myself looking at everything outside, looking for something familiar. Something I’ve seen from Japanese movies and dorama. Seriously, I was feeling like I was magically transported from my home to inside one of those movies’ location lol.

Mina-san! Rise and shine! ^_^

We finally made it to Kyoto. I didn’t even have to ask if we were at the right station. The time of arrival on my ticket matches the time on my phone. As expected of Japan railway.

I wanted to get some maps first before I get to my hostel but I couldn’t find the tourist information center. And despite some gaijin’s account that if they ask in Japanese, some people answer them in English. In my case, I asked a guard in English, and he answered back in Nihongo. I told him “Nihongo-ga wakarimasen” which means I don’t understand Nihongo. One of the survival phrases that I learned prior to my trip but he kept giving his instruction in Nihongo anyway. But I didn’t mind, I just gave up and asked him to point me in the direction of the taxi bay instead. I didn’t wanna keep my tour guide waiting.. Kyoto Tower!

To be continued..
