Fushimi Inari Taisha and a bit of Gion

This is the shrine that I was looking forward to seeing the most. I loved the movie version of Memoirs of a Geisha and I wanted to see where they shot that scene with hundreds of vermilion colored torii gates. I know the movie gives the wrong idea about Geisha's but I liked the story nonetheless. And because I'm a fan of Zhang Ziyi. 😅

The shrine was beautiful, breathtaking even. However, it was really difficult to get into the moment since it's practically swarming with tourists. Heck! I wanted to get a dreamy shot of the torii gates but it was almost impossible. You get a split second chance til someone gets in the frame. 😅 I wish I can go back one day and get there really early in the morning. I heard it also looks quite sublime at night but I didn't wanna hike up the hill, alone, in the dark, and with the temperature dropping.

Still, the shrine looked stunning.

On the way to the shrine.

So fun.

Grabbed from my friend's album:

That evening I met up with another friend, the same friend I traveled with in that short IndoChina adventure I blogged about before. He's also traveling around Japan and will be passing by Kyoto. It's funny I realized just now we don't get to hang out in the Philippines  but would see each other overseas.😆 I told him about seeing Geishas so we met up to hang around Gion. These are random photos I took there. We saw a few but I won't be posting anymore Geisha  photos since I already wrote about it.

Somewhere in Kyoto.Very cheeky store front.

This is my way home to the second guesthouse I stayed at in Kyoto. It's really this dark and there were weeping willows around. It would be so quiet and I would only hear the sound of the stream. Loved it.

Convenience stores in Japan are such huge lifesavers especially when you're hungry but too tired to go hunting for food. There's one across my guesthouse where I took this photos from.
